The undergraduate English Program at Yale University provides students with the writing and research skills necessary for constructing and analyzing arguments. Program covers introductory courses in literature and writing, as well as complex independent research.
Columbia University is distinguished for its English programs, a major and minor is offered. Students must take two courses written before the 1900’s. Concentrations include American Literature, Creative Writing, Film and Theatre.
The English program at the University of Pennsylvania allows students to pursue an English Major (Standard Curriculum); students may participate in special tracks and major with an emphasis in Creative Writing or Cinema Studies.
Princeton’s English program exposes students to a variety of genres; periods studied include British, American and Anglophone literature. Faculty includes theorists, formalists, poets, and historicists.
University of Chicago offers an undergraduate program in English and Literature, curriculum allows students to examine and study works of literature, drama, and film. Questions addressed include literature & culture, literature & history and individual authors.

University of North Carolina —Chapel Hill provides students with the foundation necessary to excel after studying English. Program includes training in writing, reading and critical thinking; undergraduate and graduate degrees are awarded.
The School of Arts and Sciences at Rutgers (the State University of New Jersey—Brunswick) offers a major and minor in Literatures of English. Program allows student the flexibility of choosing from over 100 courses that are offered every semester.
University of California –Berkley awards a Bachelors in English through its English Department; program includes courses in literature, writing and language. Courses center on authors, historical periods, theories and methods; cultural and multicultural areas of study are also visited.
University of California—Los Angeles offers an English Major with a World Literature Concentration and a Creative Writing Concentration. The World Literature Concentration requires students to fulfill four courses in foreign literature. American Lit & Culture is also offered as a major.
University of Texas—Austin provides students with a top notch English Program; courses are drawn from American, British and World Literature written in English. Students may also choose to concentrate in other areas of interest; these include creative writing and cultural studies.
University of Virginia allows student to major or minor in the English Program; majors must complete courses in History of Literatures in English, Pre-1800 Literature, and one Seminar in Literature.
