The above Commission provides the student with educational planning tools as well as resources. It is the main objective of the above commission to provide the student with financial help for both education and career training. Names Of The Some Of The Prominent Alaska Scholarships

 

The following are some of the prominent scholarships that are being offered to students that are residents of the state of Alaska:

 

1.    American Legion Alaska Oratorical Contest: This scholarship is a renewable scholarship

Objective: For Full Time Undergraduate Studies For Postsecondary institutions
Eligibility: Applicant must be a US citizen and a resident of Alaska. The applicant should also be sponsored by the American Legion Post and should also participate in the local speech contests.
Selection Basis: Applicant must have financial need
Requirements: Proof of eligibility
Scholarship Amounts: There are three amounts and they are $3,000, $2,000 and $1,000

2.    American Council of Engineering Companies Scholarship: This scholarship is a renewable scholarship

Objective: Junior, senior, master’s, doctorial post secondary studies conducted at ABET accredited institutions

 

Eligibility: Applicant should be a U.S. citizen residing in the state

 

Selection Basis : Should have a major career interest in the field of engineering and the applicant must show that he has a serious purpose to study.

 

Requirements For The Applicant : Essay, Recommendations transcript, and nomination by the Council Member Organization.

 

Scholarship Amount: $5,000-$10,000

3.    Geological Society of Alaska

 

Eligibility: Should be a full time junior or senior student of the state pursuing graduation or may be an undergraduate taking a minimum of 12 undergraduate credit hours or 9 graduate credit hours in a university in Alaska. 4.    Indian Health Service

Eligibility: For the natives of Alaska and American Indians that are in need of graduate and undergraduate education in health care.
