Uniform CPA Examination

The Uniform CPA Examination is the licensing examination required for candidates seeking to become Certified Public Accountants in the United States. The current CPA Exam is a four-section, 16-hour assessment consisting of three Core sections—Auditing and Attestation (AUD), Financial Accounting and Reporting (FAR), and Regulation (REG)—plus one Discipline section selected from Business Analysis and Reporting (BAR), Information Systems and Controls (ISC), or Tax Compliance and Planning (TCP). Each section is four hours. Candidates must first establish examination eligibility through the applicable jurisdiction and receive authorization before scheduling with Prometric. Education, experience, application, fees, credit periods, and other licensing requirements vary by jurisdiction and should be verified with the applicable state board of accountancy and NASBA.
