New York State has one of the largest and most complex K-12 systems in the country, anchored by New York City's roughly 1,800 public schools across 32 community school districts. This directory already covered a different New York City exam school (Stuyvesant) in the original pilot batch, before the state-by-state build began; the 1 record below adds to that starting sample and is not remotely close to full coverage.

New York school-level context

New York's K-12 system is overseen by the New York State Education Department, which publishes school-level accountability data through the NYSED Data Site, separately from the federal NCES directory used above. New York City itself uses its own school-quality reporting through NYC Public Schools.
